Ed,
I took a quick look at the manual and my thoughts are forget it for these
reasons.
First of all it has no data connection. The RJ45 on the rear is for SW
updates only. The other reason is this is a digital/analog radio that is
overkill for Allstar. It is only going to work analog with Allstar and that
would be after you got a service manual and found out how to get the proper
signals from it which would be an internal operation. I am not sure what
this individuals needs are but if he just wants a personal Allstar radio
node he could use the Baofeng 888 or UV82. I could point you towards a ham
who is modifying and selling them if he is not able to make the mod
himself. There are also many other radio options, I just don't think this
is a good choice.
