Most commercial radios have what is known as a “hang up” switch. This is so that if
you have the mic on the hook it keeps the radio quiet unless the call is for your group.
If then mic is off hook the PL is defeated in case there is another user with a different
tone using the system. You would then know that the repeater was in use and you
needed to wait your turn. This is how it was done prior to trunking radios.
With the Maxtrac you need to have a mic plug in the front of the radio with a wire
from the hang up to the frame of the radio to make the PL work. I forget what
pins it is, but a bit of searching should find it quickly for you. It can be made out
of an RJ-45 and a short chunk of wire.

Subject: [arm-allstar] Motorola Setup
This may be off topic so contact me off the forum if needed. I discovered that 2 of my Maxtrax radios are not PL squelch on received. The transmit works fine. I'm using the Motorola programing software from hamviop. I'm not sure if I missed something in programing or the corversion. Thanks
