 Yes, this is normal. AutoSky only announces the general alert. It is
intended to briefly warn of a possible problem and the user is responsible
to use other means to clarify the situation. Even if there were a tornado
warning it could be a fairly large area so further information would be
needed. You might use weather_condition.sh to get a more detailed verbal
forecast or some other means like a cellphone in this case.
