[arm-allstar] FW: Echolink Connect announcements

David,

I was having issues with this when I set up the link radio (at my QTH) to my repeater. I can't recall the exact circumstances, but RXCTCSS, COS, and TXCTCSS seemed to be having a conflict. I'll have to go out and take a look at it when I get a few free minutes. I have a signal monitor/breakout box (https://tinyurl.com/ybbu3fz3) in-line between the interface and the radio, so it's pretty easy to watch what's going on.

I'll report back once I figure out what's up.

Hi Mike,

TXCTCSS can be set to follow COS now.

However, I think you're also wanting various telemetry (like
announcements) to enable TXCTCSS as well....And, that currently doesn't
happen.

I'll look at what would be required to make this user selectable as to
allowing various telemetry to activate TXCTCSS as well.

Just wondering if you and your team have had time to examine the possibility of making TXCTCSS follow COS.

As always – thanks,

Mike,

TXCTCSS has been in Allstar for awhile, it is not our invention we just made it work better and added some enhancements. We will take your suggestion into consideration and if it is possible consider implementing it. It won't be for awhile though as right now there are several more important Allstar things in the works and we are also readying for a massive hurricane on the east coast which might set us back for awhile.

Doug,

You've described my installation here; I'm tying a remote node to the
repeater via RF.

I certainly agree that node ID's need not have TXCTCSS Encode; there is no
need to transmit those IDs over the repeater. However, I think that connect
announcements should be TXCTCSS encoded.; there is absolutely no point in
transmitting a connect announcement if nobody can hear it. As the repeater
owner/control op, I'd like to know when a connect occurs and who connected.
Aside from that, it's hard to initiate a QSO with a listener if you don't
know they are there.

I use ARCOM RC-210 repeater controllers exclusively. I have the option to
send any announcement, CWID, etc. with or without TXCTCSS. Seems like that
ought be doable with AllStar as well.

Just my 2-cents.

Mike,

Yes, TXCTCSS follows input COS and not PTT. This means that messages and
ID's are not heard by a receiver using that PL frequency. This is useful
when you don't have Internet access at a repeater site and you connect to
Allstar via remote RF allstar inputs. The remote site see the only the
input RF of the repeater, PL follows the input. In this case you could have
two PL's one following the repeater PTT (output PL) and one using TXCTCSS
following the input. Repeater users would use the output PL
