The arm-allstar email list is an important way to get information about the
hamvoip software out to users. Activity on the list has picked up and will
probably continue to do so in the future. I realize that many of the
messages here may not pertain to you and some may get upset about the
quantity of email but there are alternatives if it is really bothering you.
The best way to organize email and this is not just for arm-allstar is to
filter your mail into folders. This is very easy to do in most clients.
Make a folder called arm-allstar (or whatever name you prefer) and filter
incoming email on the subject field of [arm-allstar] This will divert all
mail for the arm-allstar list to that specific folder. It will then not be
shown in your personal email.
As far a quantity of messages and space, I use gmail and have every message
back to the beginning of 2016 (prior to that I used outlook), some 9000
messages archived in a folder and it uses a very small fraction of my
allowable storage. It is stored in the gmail cloud also so can be accessed
from anywhere.
Another method would be to subscribe instead to the digest which groups
message and sends them out in bulk. This is less desirable as messages are
delayed and it may be more difficult to read. It is also annoying when
replying a replying to a digest defeats the subject trail and brings along
a bunch of messages that do not apply. You should not reply to digest
messages but rather create a new thread about the specific topic you are
responding to.
However you do it, it is important to keep up to date so you should at
least look at the list every few days or once a week.
