Pete when I tried this with a hotspot thru Straight Talk 2gb @$15/mo. was not enough data. That's was as far as I went this  hotspot.  Guessing with little useage you might get by with 4 to 6 gb. Cost about $25-30. I was planning on checking in on Verizon's hotspot service for a site without internet and cost but ended up with an half duplex link to the site.

ERIC:  This is how I'm doing one of my Allstar nodes and at @ 10,000 ft you shouldn't have a problem even at 5.8 GHz.
Pete:  Eric approx. what is your monthly WiFi Hotstop cost?  Who is your cell provider for that Hotspot?

Robert:  Could you do P2P wireless from the mountain to town and piggyback somebodies broadband?
Pete:  Negative, no piggyback options.  That's why were considering a WiFi Hotspot - but need a monthly cost guesstimate.

ERIC: No cell company will Port forward. But you can solve this issue by a reverse ssh tunnel. Better to use p2p if you can afford the initial cost.
Pete:  Eric your above comment a non-issue.  Outbound only connections from top of Vail Mountain (Allstar Node) to our Allstar Server/Hub elsewhere on the Internet.
Outbound (only) Allstar connections - require no port forwarding.  Another major reason I prefer Allstar over IRLP.
Guys - still need some comments on Monthly (WiFi HotSpot - monthly Guesstimate costs) and recommended (by your personal experience) a reliable HotSpot vendor.
Thanks,

To all experienced Allstar Hotspot Users....
Am looking for a WiFi Monthly Cost - Guesstimate..
We have a Mountain Top Repeater location (10,000 ft.) that can be easily supported by a WiFi Hotspot into Allstar.Plan is (then) to have that Mountain Top Allstar Node - connect into our Ham Club Allstar Server/Hub already online and connected to the Internet via a cable modem.
Am aware that total monthly WiFi/Hotspot cost will be dependent on the total amount of monthly data passed through the Mountain Top Allstar Node.
Am looking for some comments from Hams who are using HotSpots today (to get some idea on cost) and which WiFi HotSpot providers provide the best monthly deal.Verizon? AT&T? Sprint?  Those vendor Hotspots - all available in our geography.
Thanks!
