Sorry for my previous uncompleted message.. 

You were correct, I had non updated version which I did not realize because I was working on two SDs at the same time.

My Supermon config comes out fine, though I can`t log in , I can see who I am connected to, but I do not get any of the function buttons.
What I can´t figure out is step 3:

 “Create a password for you and possibly other users to login to Supermon”. 
When I enter the line : Add an htpasswd file
htpasswd – I get command not found.

When I go with:

htpasswd -
cB .htpasswd <userID>

Supply a password of your choice when prompted,---- I never get any indication for a password to be entered. ?  If I edit the almon. Ini file, I see may password and user name, as well as my node number.  Likewise in the manager conf file. 

Thanks in advance for any additional clues on this issue
