Chris,
I am afraid you got taken by an April fools joke. In case anyone did not
get it the April 1 message I sent showing the Pi3B+ with the big heatsink,
and rather outlandish claims was an April fools joke.
While the Pi 3B+ is probably more capable the issue is more a USB bandwidth
issue that has not really changed much in the Pi3B+. So if you want truly
reliable and clean audio I would limit the radio nodes to 2 per server. In
most cases I personally only run one per server. This is especially true in
a repeater or situation where you need reliability and redundancy. Have all
you eggs in one basket is not a good idea. If it goes down for some reason
all the nodes go down. Having multiple Pi's connected to an Ethernet switch
is a far better idea. At $35 or less per Pi we are not talking about big
money here. People pay over $500 and sometimes $1000 to get a dedicated
repeater controller that has less capability and flexibility than using
Pi's. There is no reason to cram multiple radio nodes on one Pi.
