VE3KAI, try removing the frequencies you are using on the 888 from the scan list with the programming software. I had the same trouble on one of the new 888s and it worked for me.

Here is wiring I used on a recent 888s - maybe this is closer to the board you have.

Andy,

In some cases you do need to get COS from the other side. It is always
available from the same place on all models directly at the chip - Pin 1.
There are two 8 pin IC's. You can check this with a meter. COS on the 888
goes high on signal so it should be 0 volts without signal and something
higher than about 2.5V on valid signal. The dot on the chip is pin 1. See
this photo at the howto -

https://hamvoip.org/hamradio/baofeng888/

If needed removing the board is not a big deal. Disassembly instruction are
at the howto. Like 7 or 8 screws and two solder locations - the antenna
and battery power.

Dave has placed an update out this evening to fix the one way audio problem
that has plague us sporadically for a long time. The patch does not
actually fix the problem but instead detects and corrects it. For those who
have experienced this we are looking for your input. When a one way audio
condition is detected it will correct it in about 45 seconds. Most of the
time this should go completely unnoticed.

Other changes include more Echolink fixes, an obscure memory link fix, file
descriptor scrambler fix, and some timing code fixes.

Use the Admin menu item 1 to update. Because the one way audio problem
could effect both directions it is imperative that both effected ends
update their code.

Doug, Dave.

Did the update and now none of the nodes that I updated will stay
connected to the IaxRpt client. I have some older nodes that aren't
updateable and there's no problem with them. The stay connected.

Here's a cut and paste of the CLI.

I have a Baofeng BF-888s setup with the newer short board using a DMK URIx.
Very pleased with the setup. I am having one peculiar issue. If it has
been shut down, which I usually do not, When I first start the system for
the next 2 or 3 minutes it randomly does keyups. See below the stats from
the stats page. It is not connected to any node at this point. No one is
keying up the repeater, The station ID's fine. Any thoughts? When it
settles down I carry on no problem.

Actual Uptime 3M 29S
Total Keyups 52

Yes, with the update, IAXrpt disconnects every 45 seconds but it does not reconnect. Node to node connections seem to be fine. Before the update, IAXrpt worked. I chatted with it for about 30 minutes last evening. The connection is unusable now.
