Paul,
The levels are set in simpleusb-tune-menu selection 2 for RX audio or the
audio received by your node radio or repeater receiver. Selection 3 (or 4
depending on how you have it wired) is the TX audio to your node radio TX
or repeater transmitter. Further the RX level can be boosted or attenuated
by a fixed level using rxboost. There is no txboost in simpleusb.
Thee is no separate Internet vs. local level from RX to TX in a repeater
situation. Levels have to be balanced between selection 2 and 3/4. You need
to set the RX level first then the TX level. If someones level coming from
the Internet is to high or low and you have your levels set correctly then
the problem is at their end. The system \depends on everyone setting levels
correctly. If RX level is set too high then local RF will sound much louder
than that coming from the Internet and much softer in the opposite case.
There are gain controls for Echolink and in the future IRLP to balance
their levels with the Allstar levels and also level controls for telemetry
in rpt.conf.
