[arm-allstar] IMPORTANT Update audio problem

Dave has stopped the -16 update temporarily because of a TX audio level
issue. The code for years, well before hamvop has used a variation of log
or linear settings for TX audio depending on the detected USB device. We
changed it in the latest -16 update to all linear which is the way the RX
side is and probably the way it should have been for everyone all along.
Unfortunately this changed just about everyone’s TX audio levels. While it
could be readjusted what we decide to do was add a simpleusb.conf file
parameter. The parameter is:
tx_audio_level_method=0|1|2
It can be set to =0 DEFAULT, same as always, =1 Always linear, =2
Always log
Leaving this parameter out of the file or setting it to 0 results in the
default behaviour being the same as it has traditionally been and you audio
levels should not change. So unless you want to experiment you can just do
the update and not add anything to the file. Users experiencing level
setting problems especially at the lowest levels should try the linear
method.
If you updated to the -16 version in the last day or so please update again
to version -17 using the ADMIN menu item 1. Others who have not updated as
yet can go ahead and update from wherever they are to the -17 version.
-17 also fixes a bug in how the Asterisk restart was performed after an
update.
Sorry for the inconvenience to a few but it was minor and at least we
understand the problem. The reason this was changed is that someone had a
problem adjusting audio at the very lowest level. While this could have
been solved by the user adding a resistive pad to lower the level changing
to linear method also solved the problem.
Versions in the ADMIN menu should show -
