[arm-allstar] Any updates on the IRLP channel front?

Mike,

We are indeed working on re-establishing the IRLP gateway back into our
code and that will take place soon. An IRLP beta group has been established
to do just that. I have down played this because it is really not in our
mission to support the use of IRLP. The main reason to do this is to allow
the replacement of existing and very old PC gateways which are still out
there and operational with the Pi. It is NOT intended for everyone and
would be discouraged for the average user. I would much rather see
education of the current IRLP users about the vast benefits of Allstar.
This is already happening in areas like Alaska where IRLP was the primary
ham VOIP system. Providers there gave out multiple static IP's for low or
no cost. That is changing and because of IRLP's inability to allow multiple
nodes on a single IP many users are switching to Allstar. I think once you
show the IRLP user the virtues of Allstar and they experience that they
rarely go back. The main impediment is a social one, "My buddies are on
IRLP and I want to talk to them." Well the idea is to get your buddies on
Allstar!

If anyone is currently running an Allstar/IRLP GW and they want to be part
of the beta group please email me personally. Again this is NOT for the
average user. You must have an IRLP node and a current GW.
