[arm-allstar] Channel Controll using GPIO on PI3

Bobby,
What you want to do can certainly be done. 4 or 5 bits of I/O can be
programmed using the GPIO command (see the GPIO howto) to control the
channels. Then a simple GPIO out statement would change to a different
channel.
The problem here is it will require some script programming to do that.
Drop down menus is again another level. I would vi for a DTMF command to
change channels which could certainly be done. If you don't know bash or
some scripting language it will be tough. I could certainly do it but I
really don't have time right now. Perhaps someone else would volunteer. If
you want to take it on yourself I could point you in the direction to go.
First you need to get the hardware interfaced and test it with the GPIO
command. The radio I believe is BCD four bit and a strobe programming and
if that is the case I have already written some code for someone else to do
that. No drop down menus though!
Remember the Pi GPIO is 3 volts. Applying 5 volts to any GPIO pin will
destroy it.
