[arm-allstar] Allstar Echolink works behind router... w/o any NAT !?!

All,

We installed a repeater system this morning that includes an Allstar
R-Pi2 with Echolink configured. This ran very well at my home during
tests and I did have to NAT the appropriate ports to make it work. No
problem.

Off to the hill I went with the system, installed it and things worked
well. I plugged the R-Pi into the local network hub that provides the
usual access to the Internet. No perimeter NAT ports are configured
yet; Hence I did not expect Echolink to work until the fellow who owns
the internet connection returns from vacation to set up the NAT in a
couple days.

Well... Echolink works and I don't know why.

I saw this...

  http://www.echolink.org/firewall-friendly.htm

...suggesting version 2 of the Echolink software might not require
special NAT treatment.

What version of Echolink does Allstar roll into the Allstar img
package and could this be the reason our Echolink works today?

Thanks and 73
John, kx4o
