I use Doug's trimlog.sh program. Since "/var/log" is in RAM this never
touches the SD card.
My root crontab entry:
# Logging/trimming:
03 */6 * * * (/usr/local/sbin/trimlog.sh /var/log/httpd/access_log 500
>/dev/null 2>&1)
07 */6 * * * (/usr/local/sbin/trimlog.sh /var/log/httpd/error_log 500
>/dev/null 2>&1)
10 */6 * * * (/usr/local/sbin/trimlog.sh /var/log/asterisk/messages 500
>/dev/null 2>&1)
14 */6 * * * (/usr/local/sbin/trimlog.sh /var/log/asterisk/connectlog 500
>/dev/null 2>&1)
