Ray,
I never actually did a howto for that but the instructions are in the
script. It is really very simple.
Make a directory (typically under /etc/asterisk/local called playnews.
Copy all the files from the tarball there.
To run it tell it the time you want it to run and precede that time by at
least 5 minutes and not more than 24 hours when you actually execute the
command. Here is an example. I play ARN news every Sunday at 9:01 PM. Here
is the cron entry -
# 0 for Sunday
# Weekly playing on ARN news
30 20 * * 0 /etc/asterisk/local/playnews/playnews-0.12 ARN 21:01 40000
This sets up the files to play at 8:30 PM and wait until 21:01 (9:01PM) to
play to node 40000
Other parameters -
L at end of command - play locally only.
NOW for time of play. NOW does not play immediately. It sets up the files
and then you need to hit any key to start it.
ARRL for ARRL news instead of ARN.
