I've seen those on amazon. One seller recommends putting a heat sink on the
chip, if the draw is over 2.5a. A small heat sink, probably the same size
that fits on the smaller pi3 chip, might be the right size. That is, if
when your dmk cuts out, and see if the chip is hot. It could be many
things. Personally, I have a few of those buck converters. Haven't used
them yet. I'm planning on getting a larger dc to dc converter because I
want to power more things.
It might be voltage sag. It could be drawing too many amps. It could be not
adjusted to 5.17vdc. It could be many things. Looks like trouble shooting
with a multimeter might be in order.
