Steve,

Are you talking about the hamvoip.org version. We do not force expantion of the file system nor recommend doing it unless you need the extra space which is rarely the case.

Just joined the list and would like to know if there is a way to NOT expand the file system to take up the entire SD card when using a RasPi. The suggestion I find to “backup” your installation by creating an image of your installation runs into big problems if you have expanded the file system to use the entire card, then you make the image backup and then try to write that image to a card of the exact same size and are told you don’t have enough room. I’m using Win32DiskImager to image and back up my SD cards, but unless I can limit the file system to say 8GB on a 16GB card, I won’t be able to make that image backup and then write that backed up image to another 16GB card. Same goes for using larger size cards, even when there isn’t a real need to use a larger card.  It just seems the better cards these days seem to come in the larger sizes Steve G./N4TTY
