I have been contacted by several stations expressing interest in some kind of JOTA Allstar connection. JOTA ir Jamboree on the Air is an international scouting event which will be held the weekend of October 14-16, 2016. Connecting scouts from all over the world it is typically held on the HF bands but with band conditions down especially HF DX it might be a good idea to consider Allstar.
I can offer a hub to do this if there is interest. Please let me know if there might be interest in your area. We would select dates and time periods for contacts. If you are connected to scouting or have a scouting group in your area that might want to participate please let me know.
This would be good PR for amateur radio and for Allstar and we might get some new young hams

Get Ready to File Your JOTA Station Report
Last year we had 400 stations register but only 200 stations file a report. We're going to improve that this year. Icom America and Ray Novak, N9JA, have stepped up to help us with considerable incentive.
Every station that files a report will be entered into a drawing for an Icom ID-51A Plus Ultraviolet HT as the grand prize. Five runners up will receive an Icom America Ham Crew T-Shirt. These prizes are for the station. It's up to you to determine who gets it or how you share it. Only BSA stations are eligible.
Of course, everyone who files a report will receive the 2016 Jamboree on the Air Certificate.
We'll provide access to the reporting system right before JOTA weekend. Reports are due November 1, with the prize drawing held that week.
Designate someone on your team to collect the information needed for your report and follow the best practices noted below to make sure your report truly captures your event.

We've compiled a full list of best practices for filing your report. It includes: numbers, images, stories, and video. Check it out as you prepare for the largest Scouting event in the world – Jamboree on the Air and Jamboree on the Internet.
Online JOTA Station Spotting and Scheduling
In addition to the DX spotting websites and systems, there is a Scout station spotting cluster at http://www.pi4raz.nl/jotacluster/cluster.php This may be a good way to see who's on the air and their frequency.
Dave Edwards, KD2E, and Andy O'Brien, K3UK, have developed a Scout scheduling page at http://www.obriensweb.com/sked/index.php?board=scouts You can use this to post your frequency and to pick up on other stations as well.
USA JOTA 2016 Patches Available
Patches are in stock and ready to ship. I've got mine and they look great. Don't miss out on getting enough for your JOTA participants and for your collection. Order through your local Scout Shop to avoid shipping costs. It's order number 634941.
Radio Scouting Net
Chris Overbey, WA5DM, has volunteered to host a monthly Radio Scouting Net on the second Thursday of every month. Held in July on 40 meters and in August on Echolink, the time has now moved to 9 PM Central to better accomodate schedules across the USA. It's on Echolink *JOTA-365* (480809) — September 8.
Icom Scout Loan Stations
Icom America has provided 10 complete stations for loan to local councils since 2012. They are now in the process of updating the kits, replacing the IC-7200 with the IC-7300. We feel that the IC-7300 is a superb transceiver for demonstrating amateur radio to Scouts. With it's touch screen and spectrum display, it meets Scouts where they live, with their smartphone.

K2BSA 2017 Jamboree Update
All staff positions are currently full. You can see the roster at 2017 Jamboree Staff. We've also published an overview that captures the essence of our plans for the K2BSA operation along with our full operations plan. We hope to work you on the air during the Jamboree. Or, if you're attending the Jamboree, bring along your HT and work the three repeaters that Icom America has provided.
