Thanks very much for the thoughtful and interesting replies Doug and David.
I've sent David a separate note asking for the information he offered on the
1.3 beta program... We have two RPi2 based arm-allstar implementations we
have just deployed and are extremely pleased except for the delay...

Just a quick note on the RPi3. This is a very new product and because of
that both hardware deliveries and software maturity will take a little while
to settle down. Probably several months. It may also take awhile until we
have an image for the Pi3. We are working on getting the 1.3 images for the
BBB and RPi2 out which should be available in about a month. Once they are
out the door we will be working on an image for the RPi3. If you in a hurry
to get a Pi node on the air I would recommend the RPi2. There is plenty of
stock out there. For most users the RPi3 would offer no noticeable advantage
over the RPi2 running the current images. That being said given time and
further programming there will be things the RPi3 can do that the RPi2 could
not. Stay tuned.

Also the dropouts you are experiencing probably have nothing to do with
processor speed but rather a USB issue. The new code (1.3) will eliminate
the simpleusb delay issue on both the RPi2 and BBB (worse on the RPi2).
Coming soon are complete rewrites of the channel drivers which we are hoping
will greatly improve and hopefully eliminate most of the USB radio issues.
For now it is still best to use simpleusb whenever possible.

I was doubtful that the download image for the RPi2 would work on the RPi3
and it indeed looks like it doesn?t? Is there a release for the RPi3 on the
horizon? I used the RPi2 with USBRadio to interface to a Yaesu DR1-X but
the audio had lots of dropouts ? switched to USBsimple on advice from K5TRA
and that made the audio sound wonderful but there is a considerable delay
with the Fusion so am wanting to try USBRadio again with the faster Pi to
see if that would cure the dropouts and go back to a reduced delay? Tom N5TW
