I've used the following method to set up an Allstar node to a public wi-fi
without using a separate keyboard or monitor.
You just need a spare wi-fi router and either a phone, tablet or laptop.
Connect the Pi using Cat-6 cable to the spare wi-fi router that you brought
with you.
Use the tablet, phone or laptop to wireless connect to the spare router.
Then you can SSH into the pi and set the wi-fi up to connect to the public
wi-fi access port. Then just unplug the pi from the spare router and
you should be operational on the public wi-fi.
Works great.
