Greg,
I would recommend using the Pi3 in a wireless application but attached is the wireless info for the RPi2. Note in this howto we only supported specific adapters.
This is ONLY for the RPi2 - the RPi3 howto is on the web site. I probably should put this one back on the site but I didn't want to encourage wifi use on the Pi2 as the SW is no longer supported.
You also have the option of using an external adapter as described in this howto. That works well. The Pi thinks it is always in wired mode.
