[arm-allstar] Trying to connect two nodes

I would just remind everyone that for many questions there are good howto's on the hamvoip.org web page. While it does not apply here people often ask how to setup two or more servers on one public IP and have the ability for them to connect to each other. There is a howto on that:

In order to connect to a node BOTH that node and YOUR node need to have routing information in place. This is stored in /tmp/rpt_extnodes but can be superseded by an entry in the nodes section of rpt.conf.  To determine if a node exists in this database you could do the following at the Linux prompt:

grep <node> /tmp/rpt_extnodes

If there was an entry you would get something like this:

[root at wa3dsp-27225-hub ~]# grep 27225 /tmp/rpt_extnodes
27225=radio at 73.30.112.57:4569/27225,73.30.112.57

Which say that you can reach me at port 4569 at this IP address.

But even if BOTH ends had proper routing info (port and IP correct) if port forwarding was not correct or port forwarding was not possible or did not work you would not be able to make the connection. It might however be possible to make the connection in one direction but not the other if the end you are connecting TO had good port forwarding.

When you have a cell connected (hotspot) connection you usually would NOT be able to port forward so connections TO that device would not be possible. The best alternative if you want people to be able to connect TO you when using a portable cell connected node is for you to connect back to a home node or some node where others know they can reach you and then have them connect to that node. In that case you would not advertise you portable node to the stat server at all since it would be impossible for anyone to connect to you directly.

Good morning!  I need some guidance, please.  I have two allstar nodes setup.  They are both configured like this.  CDM1250 UHF radio, DMK URI and a Raspberry Pi 3.  The Pi is loaded with RPi2-3_V1.02beta_Allstar image acquired from crompton.com Allstar page.  The Pi was configured using the firsttime.sh.
Audio is passing in and out.  I am able to connect to various nodes around the world.  However, I'm not able to connect the two nodes together.  When I try to connect to the other node it states "connection failed." Both nodes are on and working and are on separate networks in DHCP.  I can see them both active on allstarlink.org.
I'm assuming that I have missed something in the setup but have been scratching my head for a few days now.  We are looking to link two repeater systems together that are too far apart to do with RF.  Any suggestions?
