Simon,
If you are using the DMK-URI then yes you would either need to amplify
the mic or maybe use pin 9. I never had to use that but it looks from the
schematic that pin 9 goes directly to mic_in of the CM119. If that is the
case then a mic should work there. It would not hurt to try it and check
with simpleusb-tune-menu and check the rx input level. If there is any DC
component on the mic you would have to use a blocking cap.
I used a modified sound FOB for the one on the web page and its mic in
worked fine so I suspect it will on the DMK-URI also if you bypass the
internal voltage divider. See the schematic on the DMK website.
