Hi Daniel,

Well, so far we've gotten lucky with the various cloned and "not 100%
compatible" devices out there. The USB HID calls continue to execute in
the channel driver, trying to access unavailable registers.  Fortunately,
they just quietly fail, not clobbering anything on the Asterisk side; they
just don't set or get any data, all the variable values stay constant.
And, thankfully, these failing calls don't seem to upset the USB audio
device, either.

Ultimately, we'll definitely improve this mechanism, but, for now, it 
doesn't -seem- to have any negative impact. If any problems show up, we'll 
cross that bridge in the future.
