Wayne,
Both the BBB and the RPi2 use USB soiund FOBS for audio in and out. You can either use a DMK URI (goggle that) or modifiy a cheap sound FOB to ADD the PTT and COS lines. See hamvoip.org how-to's for more info.
I thought you were referring to streaming the audio over the Internet. Some people do that and it would certainly be possible with the BBB and RPi2 directly digital with thr right software.
If you just want to take the analog audio to another device that streams it, that is easy. The FOBS have two channels and you could use the second channel to do that or you could just mix off the radio channel.
I think that answers your questions but if not ask again.

Thank you very much for trying to help. My question is regarding the
hardware and specifically the Beagle Board without sound versus the Beagle Board
DVI-D with built-in sound. I know how to stream – the company that I work for
provides streaming servers to consumers. I’ve just never used the BBB with or
without DVI-D. I don’ know which one can be used, I have USB plugin sound cards.
Will they work?

Wayne,
Explain a
little more what you mean by stream? Do you mean to an Internet stream server so
others can listen? Where are you streaming to?
I suspect the BBB and for
sure the RPi2 would do a digital stream to a stream server.

As part of our operations we would like to stream our group of networked
repeaters. I have a lot of experience streaming but never with a Beagle Board.
Slightly OT, I apologize. But if I load CentOS onto a SSD card can I use like a
USB sound card, or am I better off using the BeagleBone DVI-D with Audio? I don’t want to have to
run a Windoz box just to stream our repeater.
Thanks!
