John,
Also if this is a new install, not connecting may not be a not registering problem. It could be that it is not decoding your DTMF tones for a number of reasons, level settings being the biggest problem but also some handhelds, especially the Chinese ones often have flaky DTMF.
When you are in the client -
asterisk -rvvv
the command to connect to another node is -
rpt fun xxxxx *3yyyyy
where xxxxx = your node number and yyyyy = the node you are trying to connect to.
Another option is to use lsnodes on a local computer web browser. This will show your registration as well as many other statuses and allow you to send commands. Type the following into your browser address bar. firefox, waterfox, chrome work fine. Explorer does not work well.
http://x.x.x.x/cgi-bin/lsnodes_web?node=yyyyy
where x.x.x.x = the local IP address of your allstar server and yyyyy - your node number

Subject: [arm-allstar] Allstar Node Not Registering
I've checked network connectivity. I can ping Google. I've checked VPN connectivity. I've checked for correct forwarded ports.rpt_extnodes file is current (and my node shows up?)I've checked the allstar node number and password in iax.conf
But my node does not show up in green on allstarlink.org, I'm not registering with the Echolink servers, and I cannot connect to any Allstar node.
Troubleshooting suggestions, please? I've exhausted my meager abilities.
John / WB5NFC
