Ian,

 Those settings are the levels for RX and TX A and B and the default values are 500. These should be set om every system for the values required based on the connected radio.  You would use the simpleusb-tune-menu program to set the levels. 500 would be a starting point but since many different radios are used the values could vary widely. It might be fine for one system but not another. You really have to actually set the levels using the display in simpleusb-tune-menu. In addition the rx level could be changed up or down if needed by setting the rxboost in simpleusb.conf.
