I tried to search for winscp and then ultimatetelnet downloads and got
thousands of hits. does anyone have the correct download link for these
programs?

I use UltimateTelnet. Easy to drag and drop files to/from the BBB or Pi2 and
your PC. Allows you to build/edit conf files on the PC, then copy them back
over to the itty-bitty servers. I also pull a copy of most files into a
"backup" space on the PC in case I need to rebuild a conf file or two. The
suggestions came from Tom/K5TRA.

Neil,

 You have at least two choices. Use winscp to connect to your RPi2 from
windows. Then you can just copy the files over.

Another way is to use wget to download the zip directly to the RPi2.

Go to the directory you want to unzip in then -

wget http://hamvoip.org/downloads/ARRL-News-for-Allstar.zip

then -

unzip ARRL-News-for-Allstar.zip

one hopefully small question.

what is the easiest way to transfer all the unzipped files from the pc to
the raspberry pi. I am using putty in ssh mode currently.

it seems like this is a good time to learn file transferring methods
