[arm-allstar] PL encode/decode

Robert,
For a simple fix you would probably want to tie the PL decode signal from the repeater (MSR2000) to the COS line Pin 8 on the URI if you are using the BBB and running SimpleUSB.
This is a less than optimum setup as you really have no way of disabling the PL requirement from the ground and putting the repeater in COS (carrier squelch mode) if you need to troubleshoot something on your input. Personally, I like to have the ability to be able to turn the PL decode requirement on and off from the ground.
Keep in mind the BBB does not really have enough CPU horse power to run usbradio with dsp options dependably.
The other option would be to install an external tone encoder/decoder like a TS-64 and grab your tone decode signal off of that board and tie it to pin 7 on the URI and run SimpleUSB.
That way you can change the configuration from the ground on running the repeater the repeater in COS (Carrier Squelch Mode) only if you need to.

Subject: [arm-allstar] PL encode/decode
I recently went to a site to install my BBB onto a MSR2000. I made what appears a huge error in my planning. Currently the repeater is controlled by a zetron repeaterman which encodes and decodes my PL. My only experience with allstar prior to this BBB was a ACID OS using USB radio.
So I didn't realize this until I was at the site trying to figure out where my PL tones go. The only thing I can think of is getting hardware to make PL and install it into the repeater. It was decided to use a PC we had on hand and use USB radio. Rather than adding equipment to the repeater for PL.
So my question is if I have a repeater that I want to use a BBB on in the future. What do I need to do? I am not talking about two mobile radios. I'm talking about real repeater stations like mastr ii.
