[arm-allstar] CW ID not transmitting a 10 minute intervals

Jerry,

 Sorry for the confusion. When you said URI the interface we think of is DMK URI which has a COS input from your radio. You really should look into using either that interface or a modified USB FOB. Using VOX is not a good way to do it. Also using duplex=0 eliminates all of the niceties of Allstar as it turns off telemetry. You will have no connect/disconnect, courtesy tone or system messages.

The DMK URI interface unfortunately is not cheap it is about $80 shipped. It is readily available. If you are able to build things modifying a USB FOB can be done for less than $10 including the price of the FOB and any parts you may need.

Info on the USB fobs is in the how-to section at hamvoip.org

Hi Doug,
Thank you for the quick response.

As mentioned, there are two reasons I am using duplex = 0. First the URI vendor instructions said to use it. By using it, there are no problems with transmissions or receptions. Most everything works except the ID. And second when I use duplex = 1, my transmission are interrupted by breaks when I pause for an instant between words. However, the CW ID's are transmitted as you describe. I have tried to adjust the audio as suggested by the URI vendor (see previous email). Perhaps I should have another go at it.
Thanks again for the quick response.

Jerry, Duplex=0 stops all telemetry. Is there a reason why you are setting duplex=0? Usually this is done when using a simplex node connected to a repeater. If it is just a simplex node then duplex=1 is the proper setting. The system will ID at the interval set if there was a transmission since the last ID. So if there is no activity it will not ID. The hourly time transmission if activated would cause an ID if there had not been one in the prior 10 minute period.73 DougWA3DSPhttp://www.crompton.com/hamradioDate: Mon, 7 Dec 2015 21:22:42 +0000From: kb3oil at yahoo.comTo: arm-allstar at hamvoip.orgSubject: [arm-allstar] CW ID not transmitting a 10 minute intervals

Hardware: BBB, Baofeng UV-6B (or UV-3r
plus, both 2 watts out with stock antenna), PL codes in and out, Advanced Repeater Systems (ARS) URI, WIFI (thanks W0ANM Chris, it works just fine).

Duplex = 0 problem:

Everything works perfect except I
do not get the CW ID at 10 minute intervals. I do get the ID along
with the time every hour on the hour. Of a lesser concern, keyed *81 (time)
works, keyed *80 (ID) does not work, keyed *70 (current node status) works, keyed *76 (drop all connection)
works. Scheduling *76 works but scheduling ID's at timed intervals
does not work.

Duplex = 1 problem:

Everything works perfect including the ID's at 10 minute intervals except my
transmissions break off and on when I pause slightly between words when I breathe.
Yes, I also believe it is a COS problem.

URI vendors solution:

Crank up the radios' audio output to
the URI and turn it down when it goes out to Allstar (BBB). The ARS URI has built in transmit and receive audio controls (pots, see
http://www.arsrepeaters.com/ USB_AllStar_Adapters.php). The vendor provides a very good set up guide. He recommends just a few changes to your settings (duplex =
0 is one) The 'crank up, etc.' above was in response to my request for
help. I briefly tried to make these adjustments. My audio was a bit
over driven. I will try it again if that is the only solution to keeping the COS open.

Question:

Is there another way to get the ID to
transmit at the legal intervals without the transmission breaks? I
think I've turned everything pertinent in the RPT file on or off at least once,
but maybe I've missed the magic combination. Note: I'm new to all
this. Linux, Asterisk and electronics are not my 2nd, 3rd
and 4th languages, but I'm having fun hacking away
anyway. If everything worked the first time I would not have learned anything so no complaints.

Doug, thanks for all your work on this
project.
