[arm-allstar] Playnews problem

Just so everyone understands. There are two play modes - playback - global and localplay - local. BOTH have to be played to a node on YOUR server where the file you are playing exists. You can't playback (global) to some node on another server. It must be a node on your server and if you want it to play out to other nodes globally they have to be connected to the node you are playing it on.
I don't know about echolink. Maybe it is a feature to NOT play it there but if it does play there it goes by the same rules. I don't think we want to be playing out on echolink anyhow.
Remember Echolink is a feature of Allstar to allow occasional connections and should not be used in lieu of Allstar. Technically the Echolink team has banned connections to Allstar. So don't abuse it!

Doug since I have been using your script playnews never plays to other
nodes if they are not located on the same server. it also does not play on
echolink. we have a local net which the news is played on weekly, but we
currently annouce that allstar and echolink connected nodes will not hear the
newsline. otherwise its been working great
Thanks

I don't think this is a problem with
playnews. So when you play globally you hear it locally but others do not? Are
you playing it on a node on that same server? Are you sure some other node is
connected to the node you are playing on? Can you do it
manually?
asterisk -rvvv
rpt playback <node>
<file>
Where node is your node with others connected and file is a
valid file. Use your ID if you have one in /etc/asterisk /local or
something from /var/lib/asterisk/sounds - do not put the extent in the
name - somename not somename.gsm

Negative, I probably threw too much information at my problem. 0.7
worked up until this week. Last night it only played locally. It would not play
globally. I even manually called it globally with the same result. Also I can
pick up the mic after the news is done and be heard across all connected
nodes.
I guess my question would be. For testing is there somewhere I can
look when I play the script globally to see what is actually happening?
Also can I some how word a command to play a sound file on my node
and see if it plays across all nodes.
I'm willing to connect to you directly if my explanation still
doesn't make sense.
