Have you tried connecting using your home wireless network? Is the node registering on Straight Talk? In the client - asterisk -rvvv - type - iax2 show registry You need to be registered to download the database.
I don't think this is a wireless problem but rather Straight Talk.
Also try pinging - ping register.allstarlink.org
If that doesn't work try pinging - ucsd.edu
If still no response you may have a domain lookup issue.
Try changing the nameserver in /etc/resolv.conf
Make the first line after the comments -
nameserver 8.8.8.8

Subject: [arm-allstar] hotspot networking
Using a Iogear GWU672 Ethernet to WI-FI wireless adapter and Straight Talk wifi hot-spot, I can connect and get my allstar node to register fine, but the rpt_extnodes will not download form the main server.
After issuing a asterisk reset (astres.sh) I see the file (rpt_extnodes) show up in TMP directory with 0 data and then disapear.
Running the node with DHCP
All works fine when connected to my home network.
