Bernie,
First iaxrpt works fine on the RPi2 so what you are experiencing is not in anyway normal. If you have setup the RPi2 from the setup, given an iaxrpt password in the setup, and then not changed anything else in the setup it should work fine. I am assuming you setup the iaxrpt account properly as per the how-to?
Are you able to use everything else properly on the RPi2? Can you connect out to another node?
Have you tried the iaxrpt on your BBB? I have seen at least one win7 install (not mine) where it would connect but no audio with the settings obviously correct. This was a win7 issue not iaxrpt.
It is also possible you got a bad load of the RPi2 image to your SD card. Perhaps try another.
