You did not say how you installed minicom. There are three variations listed in the repository -
community/minicom 2.7-1
A serial communication program
community/picocom 1.7-3
Minimal dumb-terminal emulation program, very much like minicom
community/tinyserial 20090305-2
Small minicom replacement for accessing serial ports on Linux inspired by FreeBSD 'tip'
I installed minicom fine but did not try it....
[root at BBB-40638 sbin]# pacman -Ss minicom
community/minicom 2.7-1

Subject: [arm-allstar] installing minicom?
Hello All, I'd like to use minicom on my BBB node, but I'm having a hard time installing. I did what looked like a successful install, but no cigar.
Perhaps a working install script would be useful to post here for those of us out there who'd like to access various equipments' RS-232 consoles.
