[arm-allstar] Port Forwarding Testing

John,

There isn't anything specific about the BBB and port forwarding. If it works with something else it should work with the BBB. Can you port forward the BBB ssh port 222 TCP and access it from the Internet?

Port forwarding is not necessary for Allstar unless you want incoming connections to work. Outgoing should work just fine without touching the router in either static or dhcp mode. Static or static dhcp is recommended if you want to have outside access TO the BBB because if for some reason your internal IP address was to change you would lose access. Keeping it on a dedicated address avoids that problem.

What specifically is not working on your installation? Who is your provider? What is your router make and model? Do you have any issues with other equipment connected to that router?

It is hard to test a upd port for being open remotely as nothing response like tcp would. While some routers are a little more difficult than others to setup you should be able to get it to work. Can you copy/paste your port forward settings to an email?

IRLP/Echolink nodes have a sweet little script that tests for port forwarding and a number of other common interconnection problems. Is there a similar test to aid in troubleshooting BBB nodes? Despite opening a DMZ to my node (and discovering a configuration error) I'm still having connection problems that I believe to be port-related.
